Don’t give fast quotes

Be careful about giving fast quotes. Unless you have so much profit in the jobs that you do that you can afford it, estimating by square footage is a big mistake. If you are going to someone’s home to look at a large project such as, a kitchen remodel, bathroom remodel, room addition – something that’s larger and has a lot of variables that will affect the pricing – don’t just shoot off a number to your customer right then and there. It gives off a very false sense.  If someone gives me a nice round number bid of $5000 just like that – I know immediately that they do not know what their talking about.
This is most of the time. If I have a plumber come over and I say how much is it to repair that hose bib, and he tells me $295 -- this is something I would expect from a plumber. It’s a simple job, they should be able to give me a price immediately.  Something that would involve pouring concrete, digging trenches, running new plumbing pipes, or framing a building, it doesn’t make sense to. You can’t just rattle off a price unless you were completely making it up.
This is not a good way to conduct business.  It looks better to tell your customers that you need time to look at the plans, figure it out, and wrap your mind around it. Even if you are not going to spend too much time on their project, it still looks better to give them a price for a larger job a few days later.  It will give them the impression that you do know what you are doing.  You are not going to be lying to them, it may seem deceptive, but you’re not going to be lying because you did spend some time on it. You took it home, opened it up, wrote a number down and shut.

The name Alexander is dated back to Ancient Greek times

The name Alexander is dated back to Ancient Greek times. Alexander is the Latin form of the Greek name, Alexandros. The contextual meaning translates to “defending man.” According to Greek mythology, the name Alexander was another name for the hero Paris. Alexander as well shows up in the New Testament of the Bible. Throughout history, many religious and royalty characters were named Alexander is mainly associated with Alexander the Great, the great conqueror. The name Alexander is so popular as it dates back to the year 1880 and will most likely never go out of style. During the 1950’s, the name started to decline amongst popular names but then soon picked up again in the 1980’s and 90’s. And as of 2008, it was top 10 names for newborn babies. In America, Alexander is pronounced as al-É™g-ZAN-dÉ™r and the traditional spelling is Alexander. There are adaptations such as Alexzander, which has grown in popularity in the past years. A strong name, Alexander pairs well with other names very well. Some paired middle names include Alexander David, Alexander Charles and Alexander James. The most common nicknames associated with Alexander are Al, Alec, Alex, Lex, Xander and Zander. Alexander is attached to many famous people in history. They are Alexander Graham Bell, a communications innovator, Alexander the Great, the military conqueror, Alexander Hamilton, founding father of the United States, and of course, Alexander Ovechkin, a hockey superstar.

Staying in healthy in today’s society can be hard to maintain

Staying in healthy in today’s society can be hard to maintain. Don’t worry; you’re not the only one. We try new ideas everyday to keep our bodies fit, some work, some may not. But one should be implemented everyday. Drink water, enough to keep your body hydrated during the day. Water is essential to keeping our bodies fit and contain many health benefits. Since about 60% of our body is made out of water, drinking water is crucial to stay as healthy as possible. Water is used to flush out bad toxins out of the body organs such as our kidneys and carries important nutrients to all our cells. If you’re not drinking enough water, it can lead to dehydration, which can lead to many problems with the body. It’s important to refill your body with water especially since you lose water by breathing, sweating and going to the bathroom throughout the day. Best way to regain the lost water supply is to drink beverages and foods that contain water. Doctors recommend to drink eight 8 ounces of water, which is easy to remember and to keep track of. Depending on how active you are, depends on how much water intake you should have. When exercising, you sweat, so you should drink more water to compensate for the amount loss during exercising. Being outside in hot and humid climate can make you very dehydrated as well. So next time you’re outside when its hot out, bring some water with you to stay hydrated. Also, being sick with a fever can severely dehydrate you because you lose fluids. Drinking water is not the only way to get your supplemented amount of water; certain foods contain enough water to keep you hydrated. A lot of fruits and vegetables such as watermelon and spinach contain a significant amount of water to keep you hydrated. To avoid dehydration, drink a glass of water during and between every meal. It is actually possible to drink too much water, so be careful. But this is very rare in people who keep a fit diet. Best way to keep up with your water intake is to carry around a Brita water bottle where you can refill the bottle and drink clean water. So, remember replace that can of soda with a bottle of water.

Ever wonder where the most rare fishes in the world are located.

Ever wonder where the most rare fishes in the world are located. Some locations are in some of the most beautiful locations in the world. If you’re an adventurer and are seeking some exotic places to catch rare fish, then this is for you. Starting off in the Congo River Basin in Africa, Goliath Tigerfish is the rare fish of this location. The Tigerfish is a resident all throughout the African continent, specifically Goliath is found in the Congo River. They are a very popular fish mainly because of their strength to fight of predators, and can be up to five feet in length. The Goliath Tigerfish is strictly known for having horrid attitudes in the water. Tiger Fishes not only attack other predators but also humans as well, so tread lightly around these vicious predators. Next stop is the Indo-Pacific Ocean, Northern Australia, where Freshwater Sawfish reside. These monstrous fish reach nearly 400 pounds and up to 20 feet in length. They also have a snout, which is a row of teeth, which can grow up to a few feet long. Since these species are endangered, you have to consult with local laws when fishing for them. Freshwater Sawfish mainly stay in the ocean waters but can sometimes be spotted up by rivers.

On to Rio de la Plata Basin, South America, where Golden Dorado is the fish of choice. Surprisingly, the Golden Dorado is considered its own species. If you’re lucky enough to catch a Dorado, you’re in luck. They are one of the tastiest fishes in the world and weigh anywhere from 5-60 pounds. But be aware that the Golden Dorado is limited in its availability around the waters. In the United States, specifically in Mahoning Creek, Pennsylvania, Palomino Trout is the rarity specie. The palomino trout is a very rare rainbow trout with a golden color. They mostly reside in eastern United States, but particularly, Mahoning Creek. These trout’s weigh up 14 pounds and are very rare, so don’t expect it to be easy to fish for them. One of the best freshwater fish in the world is Papuan Black Bass found in Papa New Guinea. Some may think Papa New Guinea is not a top fishing but contrary to belief, it is. The Papuan Black Mass is one of the hardest species to catch even if you’re an advanced fisher due to the massive strength of the fish. Next time, you’re looking for a top-notch fishing adventure; check out these locations for some of the rarest species in the world.

On November 11th, the United States will celebrate National Veteran’s Day

On November 11th, the United States will celebrate National Veteran’s Day in remembrance of the brave souls who gave and lost their lives in war. Our freedom is due to their heroic encounters all throughout history. Alex Figliolia Jr, a philanthropist and businessman, is most dedicated in alleviating the troubles our veterans face when are introduced back into reality. A majority of the time, our veterans slide back into reality with wounds that are unforgettable and are hard for everyone else to understand. Some of these unforgettable wounds include missing, stress, depression, PTSD disorder and extremities. Since they serviced us throughout history, Alex Figliolia Jr. has obligated in raising alertness and money for our wounded veterans alongside their families by guaranteeing to match a $20,000 contribution. His contribution is implemented to assist the Wounded Warrior Project whose strict mission is to pay homage to Wounded Warriors around the country. Wounded Warrior Project has a bold goal to promote the biggest and most effective right-minded generation of wounded veterans in the history of country. Alex Figliolia Jr. is inspiring 1000 people to donate just $20 to Wounded Warrior Project from the start of Veteran’s Day, November 11th and finishes on December 11th and Alex Figliolia Jr. will match any donation. Wounded Warrior Project offers an abundance of integrated programs for veterans and their families to rehabilitate themselves and I totally free of charge. To keep these programs running smoothly, every dollar raised is saved up to fund the programs. To get on board and start donating, visit Alex Figliolia Jr.’s Wounded Warrior Project page, Alex Figliolia Jr. 20 K for Veterans Day Donation Match in Support of Wounded Veterans. Every donation is valued greatly and will have a lasting effect on our veterans.

New York City, the city that never sleeps, is home to the greatest attractions in the world

New York City, the city that never sleeps, is home to the greatest attractions in the world. The skyline alone is one of the most precious views around. Starting off with the Empire State Building, standing tall at 1,454 feet, it is amongst one of the tallest buildings in the world.  Go up to the observation deck to get the whole view of NYC skyline, it’s priceless! The Stature of Liberty is one of the most iconic attractions NYC has to offer. Climb all the way up to the crown and get that panoramic view of NYC harbor. Don’t leave without checking out the museum located on Liberty Island to learn everything about Lady Liberty. A personal favorite is the Brooklyn Bridge. Whether you want to take a walk or bike ride from Brooklyn to NYC, get on the Brooklyn Bridge right now. The construction shows the sophistication of NYC engineering modernization. Just be careful not to walk in the bike lane to avoid bikers. Next is Grand Central Station, which is one of the most beautiful pieces of architecture in the world. The intricate structure was done by Beaux Arts. One feature that stands out is the four-faced opal clock placed right in the center of the terminal. If you’re looking for a history lesson, check out the American Museum of Natural History. Filled with all sorts of dinosaurs, you’re set to be star struck with exhibitions. The Staten Island Ferry, another NYC attraction. Free of cost, the Staten Island Ferry transports thousands of people per day from Staten Island to NYC and vice versa. Make sure to look out the window for a view of Governor’s Island and Lady Liberty. All Brooklyn natives know about the famous Coney Island/Astroland Park. Coney Island is home to the famous Cyclone which first opened in 1927 and is still running strong. This is the best place to be in the summertime for an enjoyable day/night out. Looking a nice day out with the kids, check out the Bronx Zoo. About 5,000 animals reside at the Bronx Zoo and the most popular animals are the gorillas and polar bears. Watch out for activities with the penguins and the sea lions as well. Whether you’re a New Yorker or a tourist, these are just some of the spots you have to see.

The Challenge to Support Our Wounded Veterans is Still On

Do you know anyone who has fought for our country and was hurt in the line of duty? Maybe you don't know that person but you want to help him or her anyway. The people who fight for our freedom and keep us safe from enemies are true heroes.

Fantasy heroes like Superman, Batman and the Incredible Hulk are great for television and movies, but my heroes are these men and women who fight for our country.

One of my dear friends from high school has a husband who was deployed to Iraq over ten years ago. He left behind his bride along with brand new twin baby girls. I remember how devastated my friend was because she had just given birth to not one but two babies AND her husband was thousands of miles away with hardly any communication. I could not even fathom what she was going through at the time. My friend’s husband came home after his first tour completely safe and unharmed but that all changed when he went on his second tour.

Bill was in a small town in Iraq, evacuating civilians from their homes when he was attacked by a man with a knife. Bill was stabbed in the chest, stomach and eyes and saved by another soldier. He was medically tended to and flown back home to his wife and kids but between the injuries he sustained and PTSD he suffered from, Bill's wife started to feel helpless. She had two young children, a wounded husband, no car due to lack of income and a house and bills to pay for. She started to crumble. That is when the Wounded Warrior Project stepped in. The Wounded Warrior Project provided my friend and “Bill” with a minivan for their family and also helped them financially. It took so much stress from my friend’s shoulders and allowed her and “Bill” to see the light at the end of the tunnel. At that point I had never heard of the Wounded Warrior Project but began to really look into the organization after they helped my friend and her family. I read about such amazing stories and decided I needed to help.

This year I have a charity, ‘Alex Figliolia Jr. 20 K for Veterans Day Donation Match in Support of Wounded Veterans.’ All donations will go to the Wounded Warrior Project. For every dollar that is donated I, Alex Figliolia Jr will match up to $20,000. That means there is a chance of $40,000 being donated to this amazing charity. If you would like to help please visit the following link and donate today. There is no donation too big or too small. Please find it in your hearts to help soldiers and their families in need and click the link to give back to the people who help keep our country free.

Thank you for your support.

Have I Got a #VeteransDay Bargain For You

Veterans Day for too many has become a day off from work and an opportunity to get a great bargain on a car or retail purchase instead of a day to honor the men and women who fought and continue to fight valiantly to protect our freedom.

Parade routes - as few and far between as them might be - have become shorter due to municipal budget constraints and attendance is abysmal.

What type of reflection is it on our society that more people can be found watching #DancingWithTheStars than lining up along a parade route to say thank you to our veterans?

How does it look to other countries that more people can be found clicking "like" on Facebook than making their way to the ballot booth to cast their vote in a free and open election for any position?

Freedom is the greatest right that an American citizen has, yet it is often taken for granted as something that will always be available without effort.

That concept might be the single most dangerous thought in the heads of Americans today.

I recently had an opportunity to participate in a discussion with someone who told me that we spend too much money on the military.  This person felt that we should cut that budget expense and instead fund more social programs.  My response was that if there was only $20 left in the US Treasury, that $20 should be spent on the military.

I could see the shock on my friend's face as my words settled on his brain so I went on to explain, "Social Security, No Child Left Behind, Foreign Aide are all wonderful things when you have a free and magnanimous country.  But when you have many enemies all lined up against a country because they are threatened by democracy and the freedoms that come with it, the only way to protect those freedoms is by having a strong military and that military isn't free.

It took a while for my friend to understand what I was saying, but soon enough he came around to my way of thinking.  I then shared with him some crazy statistics about warriors returning home wounded and without jobs.  I told him that my stomach churns every time I hear about a veteran who is being denied quality healthcare or aide after s/he put their lives on the line for our freedom.  That is why I am supporting the Wounded Warrior Project and am asking people to donate $20 through this special link  Alexfiglioliajr20kforveteransday For every dollar donated between now and December 11th, I will match it dollar for dollar.

Think about it - we get to save hundreds of dollars on purchases of cars, furniture, clothing and other retail items during these big "Veterans Day Sales Blow Outs" why not take a $20 from those savings and turn it into $40 by donating to the #WoundedWarriorProject today?

You can also donate on my website www.alexfiglioliajr.com
